As you and your pooch make your way through the woodlands, keep your eyes peeled for the various wildlife that call the area home, including ruffed grouse, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and box turtles. Along the lake's shore, you might encounter great blue herons, bald eagles, and assorted waterfowl.

The swimming beach is off-limits to canines, though, so water-loving doggos can leave their barkinis at home. Wherever you go in the park, always keep your pup on a 6-foot leash and clean up after them.
