Cactus Wren Dog Park is a public dog park located in Henderson, Nevada. The fenced park has a triangular, medium-sized off-leash area that is divided into three sections. It includes a small enclosure for small dog breeds, a large, long section for bigger hounds, and a small mixed section as well.Â
There are benches placed in all three areas and most of the time there is a place to sit down to watch your pooch as the park usually doesn’t get too crowded during the weekdays. The large section is the most popular one as it allows for plenty of running space for its four-legged visitors and it is perfect for racing games or fetch. The small sections have the most trees and as a result, more shade, so keep that in mind during the summer days when dogs are more likely to overheat.
Drinking water fountains can be found right outside of the fence of the dog park, however, you should bring your own bowl for your pooch. Dog waste bags dispensers are conveniently located by the trash cans, so make sure to clean up after your canine companion.Â
The park’s surface consists of a mix of soil and grass which dogs really enjoy, though it does get muddy on the rainy days. To avoid a mess in the car or at home, don't forget to bring a towel to wipe your pooch’s paws after playtime.
The dog park is near a freeway and can get very noisy so it might not be the best park for dogs who are prone to noise anxiety. Although the background noise should not be a problem outside of the rush hours. The dog park is close to a trail, a playground, and a skate park, making this a great place to spend a sunny day with your entire family.
