On the edge of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Desert, California, you can find an vaste puppy paradise. The Cap Homme/Ralph Adams Park features 27 acres where your pup can scamper along the desert hills. There are limited areas that allow dogs in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, but the Cap Homme/Ralph Adams Park is where your best pal doesn’t need to be left out of the fun. Check out the designated off leash area where your pup can run free! With the picturesque mountain backdrop, rock gardens, and desert brush, your pup can get back to his roots and feel like a real wild dog!
There are some multi-use trails in this park that your pooch will need to be leashed for. The three different trails in this park range from easy to difficult, so people and pups of any fitness level can enjoy. A pawpular hike is the Homestead Cross Trail. It’s about 1.3 miles straight up a winding path to the cross at the top, where you can enjoy beautiful vistas. There is no shade along this trail, so be sure to be prepared for hot temperatures. A woofderful time to go is during the sunrise or sunset! Don’t forget waste bags and plenty of drinking water for you and your doggo. If you want to continue the adventure, you can also connect to the Cahuilla Hills Trail system.
There are some lovely picnic areas in this park available at a first-come first-serve basis. Why not pack a lunch and stay for the day? Don’t forget the dog biscuits! The gazebo at the top of the hill has a view that is not to be missed. Other amenities include a tennis court and plenty of parking.
With the great trails and vista views in this off-leash dog park, it’s sure to get your pup’s tail wagging!
