City-run Carla Madison Dog Park is a pupular off-leash area in the heart of downtown Denver, CO. With its paw-furiendly pebbled sand surface, this park has plenty of room for canine cavorting, chasing, and fetching. Its wide-open space allows dog parents to keep an eye on their pups or join in the fun with a frisbee or ball. Shade trees and a few big boulders are pawrfect for a game of “king of the mountain” or hide-and-seek, and they make for great resting spots, too.
Humans will appreciate the free parking and convenient waste bag stations. A dual fountain refreshes fur babies and pet parents alike, and benches located along the fence and under the trees provide rest and shade. A double-gated entry permits pet parents to safely remove and replace their pups’ leashes while entering or exiting the dog park.Â
Standard posted rules at Carla Madison Dog Park include having current rabies and license tags, and dogs must be spayed or neutered unless they’re wearing a current Denver Intact Permit. Dog treats are allowed, but humans need to leave their own food at home, as well as any children under 10. Bad dog manners like bullying or mounting are prohibited, and pet parents should be prepared to remove their misbehaving pooch if necessary. And don't furget to pick up after your fur baby!
If your pup still has too much pep in their step after the dog park, take a leashed stroll across the street at City Park. Its crisscrossing paths and two lakes are calming changes from the hectic play at the doggy playground.Â
If you and your pup could use a brush-up on expected canine behaviors at the dog park, book an in-home dog training session with Wag!
