Lucky pups in Fairbanks, Alaska can beat the boredom at the Fairbanks Dog Park. Located inside the ever growing South Davis Park near the soccer fields, you'll find this pupperdise in the center of the larger park which features many sports areas for kids and adults alike.Â
The dog park is open year round, 24 hours a day, everyday, so anytime is a great to bring your pup. Lights are provided in the adjacent parking area, but they do limit the hours during the winter to 2 pm until 10 pm. The dog run features two fully fenced in exercise and training areas for dogs to ditch the leash and play freely. There's a pond for splashing in or training, and agility equipment such as tires and a tunnel. Since it is unclear if the dog park offers water or clean-up bags, it may be best to bring your own bottled water, a bowl, and bags. Always stoop and scoop to help keep this puptastic park clean. Trash cans are located on site for your convenience.Â
If your pup has had their fill of cavorting with the neighborhood canines, clip on the leash and explore the rest of South Davis Park to get out the rest of those wiggles. Meandering trails through wooden areas are pupular for walking. You can check out the many soccer and softball fields, as well as basketball courts. There's also a picnic shelter for a lovely outdoor snack or meal, and community gardens. Note that permanent restrooms are not currently on site, although port-a-potties are provided during the summer.Â
Be sure your dog is ready for the dog park experience before you go. This means that they are spayed or neutered, are current on vaccines, are over 4 months old and are not in heat. Children under 12 are not recommended inside the dog park enclosures for safety reasons.Â
If your dog is craving some puppy playtime, head to the Fairbanks Dog Park!
