Fenwick Island State Park

If your pup loves the sun, sand, and sea, then a trip to the Fenwick Island State Park is a must! Nestled between the pawpular resort towns of Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City, this 3-mile stretch of barrier island is the pawfect place to enjoy the Delaware shore with the whole family, away from the crowds.

Spanning 344 acres, Fenwick Island State Park boasts serene ocean and bay shorelines that provide a woofderful backdrop for a number of activities, especially swimming and sunbathing. Note that four-legged guests are not allowed on all Delaware beaches from May 1 to September 30, so schedule your visit before or after those months. Another thing to keep in mind is that in order to access the beach from the parking lot, you and Fido will have to climb over a large dune, which could be a bit of a challenge if you're carrying a lot of things by yourself. Once that part's over, you'll be greeted by white sand beaches that melt into the Atlantic Ocean, and you're on your way to building sand castles and splashing in the water with your furry pal!

Visitors with doggos agree that this is a puptastic beach to bring one's canine companions, as it is uncrowded and clean. The families and dog parents that come here are very friendly as well, so Fido just might make some new friends before the day is over! If you and your pup venture to the northern boundary of the park, you'll find a concrete observation tower that was used as part of the state's coastal defense system during World War II.

In addition to food, water, sunscreen, and beach gear, be sure bring some cash for the entrance fee, which is $5 for Delaware residents and $10 for out-of-state guests.
