Located in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, the Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area is a puptastic destination for an outdoor adventure with the entire family. Four-legged members are welcome at this beautiful site, so Fido doesn't have to worry about being left at home!
The recreation area includes the 150-acre Fool Hollow Lake, which is surrounded by tall pine trees; the woods here are mostly ponderosa pine, with a scattering of juniper and pinyon pine. Enjoy a relaxing stay under these magnificent trees at the campground, where you'll find 92 electric RV sites and 31 tent-only sites. Many of the campsites offer a view of the water, and hot showers and a seasonal dump station are available at no extra charge to all registered campers. Make sure your pup stays leashed when outside your tent or vehicle and that they don't disturb the other campers. Quiet hours, which are from 8 PM to 7 AM, apply to everyone, including canine guests!
If your pooch likes being in the water, you can let them doggie paddle in the lake, but keep in mind that there is no lifeguard on duty. During the summer, you and Fido can rent a canoe or kayak to go exploring around Fool Hollow. You can also hit the 1.5-mile walking trail that travels along the south and west sides of the lake. The recreation area is home to a number of wildlife species, so keep your eyes peeled for deer, elk, gophers, Abert's squirrels, American kestrels, mallards, Canada geese, and more. Note that venomous snakes and insects also inhabit the area, so stay alert!
Whichever activities you and your doggo enjoy together, be sure to always keep them on a leash and pick up after them. Always have clean-up bags on hand, as well as water to share. For outdoor fun in east-central Arizona, you can't go wrong with the dog-friendly Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area!
