There is a required 30-minute class to make sure you and your canine are aware of the rules and capable of upholding the rules that are required of you. There is also an annual $50 fee through the city for use of this dog park. Classes and tags are available at most pet shops locally, and canines who have already received the class in the past can get their tags at some local government locations.
An alternative to this dog park would be the Shelby Farms Park. This has miles of walking trails and different activities for you and your canine to partake in. However, you would be required to keep your canine on a leash at all times, as this is not a fenced park and there are other activities taking place at the park such as sports and biking.
Visitors are also not allowed at this park. You must provide proof of residency, complete an application, sign an insurance waiver and bring a copy of vaccination records. The local authorities to respond to calls at this location and the city does enforce the rules here.
If your canine attacks another, you could be liable for any damage they cause. Your insurance waiver would also state you cannot find the city liable, and your insurance would not cover the claim.
