Frank S. Hackett Dog Park

Frank S. Hackett Dog Park is located in the Bronx region of New York City, New York. Little is known about this public dog space. Visitors to the park report a fenced enclosure, but there is no mention of how many runs are contained on-site or if there is an area designated for small dog use only. In accordance with New York state legislation, dogs must remain on a lead not greater than six feet in length when not in areas reserved specifically for off-leash play. It is advisable for all owners to carry a leash with them at all times in case of an emergency. 

It is believed that access to this public dog play space is free of charge. It is not known if there is a bathroom on site or if a potable water supply is provided to help keep Fido hydrated. For this reason, it is highly recommended that owners carry a bottle of water and an appropriate drinking vessel with them.

New York legislation also requires that all dogs to be current on vaccinations and to be fully licensed with the city. Police officers randomly request proof of immunizations and city dog licensing. Under New York state by-laws, owners are expected to carry the appropriate paperwork with them at all times. Failure to produce said paperwork results in a fine. 

Though it is not known if this area is rural or urban in nature, it is important to note that New York by-laws prohibit dogs from entering beaches and areas reserved for bathing. Also forbidden are fountains, courts reserved for sporting activities such as tennis or basketball, zoos, softball diamonds, and children's playgrounds. It is also strictly prohibited for dogs to chase any animals or wildlife.

It is not known if complimentary poop bags are available on-site.
