Freedom Run Dog Park is a public dog park located at the Liberty Park in Franklin, Tennessee. In addition to the dog park, the 85-acre public park is home to playgrounds, three baseball fields, a 10-hole disc golf course, concession stands, a large parking lot, and public restrooms.Â
It also features various walking and jogging trails that run throughout the wooded areas of the park that offer a scenic and relaxing environment for dog owners and allow dogs to explore and sniff around in the ungroomed nature paths. Dogs are welcome on the trails as long as they remain leashed.Â
The Freedom Run Dog Park at Liberty Park was opened in June 2011 and offers a safe, securely fenced environment for dogs to socialize, play and exercise in without a leash. It can be found over the wooden bridge, before the baseball fields. It offers an acre of room to roam and play and is broken up into two separate sections.Â
There is a large dog run for hounds over 30 pounds and a small dog section for the smaller canines under 30 pounds. Though both areas provide enough space for dogs to stretch their legs, the large dog run features more amenities and variety, and thus the park is better suited for large dog breeds.Â
The small dog area is grassy and mostly flat, it is equipped with a bench for owners but not a drinking fountain. The woodchips-covered large dog section offers a shaded canopy area, several benches for owners to relax on, agility equipment and obstacles dogs can train on, as well as a seasonal water fountain that keeps canines hydrated.Â
Both areas are well shaded, with slightly more shade in the small dog run. What makes Freedom Run Dog Park at Liberty Park a must-visit is the friendly owners with well-behaved dogs who do their best in helping each other as well as maintaining this park by cleaning up after their four-legged family members.
