The Green Valley Ranch East Dog Park is an integral part of the Green Valley Ranch East Public Park in Denver, Colorado. There is ample vehicle parking available in the main parking lot. The dog park is a cordoned off area which has been designated by the Denver authorities as an off-leash exercising zone for dogs. The dog park is ample in size and takes up around a quarter of the overall park acreage. The perimeter of the off-leash area is bordered with welded wire fencing. There is a separate section for small dogs.
The off-leash area is surfaced with dirt and a layer of sand but the dog park is open to the elements. Pet owners should be aware that the sand can become very hot on sunny days and may cause discomfort to their pet's paws. There is no shade in the pet area for dogs. However, there is a gazebo with benches for pet owners. A dog-friendly water fountain has been installed in the off-leash area. Poop bags are not supplied. Owners who use the dog park facility are required to provide their own and must remove all waste produced by their dog. A container has been provided for depositing used poop bags.
The Denver authorities require all dogs using the off-leash park to have their vaccinations up to date. These must include rabies and all tags, including a current license tag, must be worn on the pet's collar at all times. Owners must be in complete control of their dog even when inside the off-leash area. Aggressive dogs are not permitted and any dog displaying aggressive behavior should be removed from the park immediately.
Owners should note that children under the age of 10 years are not allowed access to the off-leash area. Children of 11 to 15 years must be accompanied by an adult. Dog handlers must be 16 or over before taking a dog into the dog park.
