Greenway Farm Dog Park

Greenway Farms Park, outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, is pretty close to perfect, as far as parks go. At 180 acres, it is enormous. There are multiple canoe access points along the creek, as well as swimming and fishing areas. The park borders next to the Chickamauga Battle Field, which was the site of a pivotal battle in the Civil War, so there's also some history. 

The area has fishing, swimming, and picnic facilities. The park also regularly hosts festivals and camping. In addition, there are miles of paved biking and walking trails, as well as graveled and dirt trails for hiking, and leashed dogs are welcome on each one. However, the best feature of the park is the off-leash dog park.

The Greenway Farms Dog Park didn't miss a beat, any more than the rest of the park did. Like the rest of Greenway Farms, the off-leash section is big, almost five acres. There is a section for big dogs that is large enough to give your dog plenty of room to run and play, but there is also agility equipment for your dog to try out. There is a separate area for smaller dogs as well.

This dog park has access to Chickamauga Creek, for dogs that like to swim and play in the water. The creek can't be accessed through the small dog section, which may be a good thing, because the creek at the dog park is generally two to three feet deep and can run swiftly at certain times of the year. Dog owners are advised to access the creek with caution.

The Greenway Farms Dog Park is covered with grass, and mud can be a problem after rain. There are some trees near the back of the park, and a few benches. The park provides poop bags and fountains for the dogs, but people are advised to bring their own water supply. There are plans to put in a dog wash station at the dog park's main gate. This park offers something for each member of the family, whether they have two legs or four.
