Hartwood Acres County Dog Park

A great, vast, open space for your dogs to run around, socialize, play and exercise, Allegheny County manages Hartwood Acres County Dog Park. This fenced dog park has plenty of amenities including drinking water, so you need not worry about your dog getting dehydrated while in the middle of play.

The park is well maintained, and there is a pleasant walk leading to it which can also double as an exercise session for you and your dog. However, there is a creek in the middle which collects mud and water, and during rainy days it can get quite dirty. The last thing you want is a muddy dog going in your car on your way home. Go on a dry day with your pooch, and you both will have a blast. 

The fencing is very secure, so you need not get nervous that your dog will get away. The park has benches and shade all throughout, so you can take shelter during hot afternoons and perhaps sit and relax while observing how happy your pet is while has the opportunity to run around and be in the company of other dogs. You also get the chance to get to know your neighbors better and meet new people.

Encompassing 629 acres, Hartwood Acres Park also features free concerts on Sunday evenings from June until August. Aside from the off-leash dog area, the park also features cross-country skiing, bridle trails, hiking trails, walking trails, mansion tours, and teas. 

There is also the outdoor amphitheater and the Summer Concert Series to look forward to, and the best thing is your dog is allowed to accompany you to listen to these concerts. Not only do you get to introduce good music to your pet, but it is also the perfect way for the both of you to bond with each other.
