Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint

On the gorgeous Oregon Coast near Florence, the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint has nearly 550 acres of room to enjoy all kinds of outdoor recreation with your family and furry companions. At Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint, visitors can go for a walk along the beach or on the trails above the beach. The shore also has natural caves and tidepools you can explore. 

There is a trail that runs half of a mile long that accesses the lighthouse and climbs about 150 feet in elevation. Other trails vary in length and difficulty. Dogs are permitted on the beach and on the trails, as long as they are leashed. Bring waste bags; visitors are required to clean up pet waste. Be respectful of park guests and rules; do not bring aggressive or loud dogs. 

The Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint is also a great spot for whale watching. The lighthouse, which stands 205 feet above the ocean, is one of the most frequently photographed on the Oregon Coast. The park also has picnic tables if you want to bring food for a meal. Campfires and open flames are currently prohibited at all state parks. 

Some barbecues or grills that can shut off via a valve are permitted. Never leave grills or cooking devices unattended. The Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint is open all year-round and is day-use only. There is a $5 per day charge for parking. There are no overnight visits or camping facilities at this park.
