Herbert Green Nature Preserve

This furrifically beautiful natural space rests just nine miles away from downtown Atlanta, making it the pawrfect place to get away from the busyness of big city life for a day of R&R. 

Herbert Greene Nature Preserve, which is also sometimes referred to as Herbert Greene Park, offers 56 acres of pawtastically serene property to explore, and welcomes you and your leashed pooch to burn off lots of calories trekking these pawrific grounds. You will find this park is easy to find. It is located just outside Utoy Boulder Park off Atlanta's busy I-285. 

This pawrific preserve is part of Atlanta's Old Growth Network, and features a walking trail that runs through much of the forested area. You and your pooch will spot lots of old tree growth as well as many different plant species including sorrel, rue anemone, and wild geraniums. The trail runs a total of one mile in length. Be careful along the path as it can be steep and rocky, and contains lots of boulders. 

Herbert Greene is on a section of Utoy Creek. Swimming is not permitted in this body of water, but you can bring along your fishing gear and try your hand at catching your lunch. This park is also a pawsome spot to enjoy a picnic lunch with your pooch. Be sure to tote along all the things you will need, including drinking water, a packed lunch, and some clean-up bags.
