Holmes County State Park

If your pooch needs some adventure in their life, head over to Holmes County State Park for some fun in the sun. This beautiful park is chock full of hardwood trees and is home to English Lake and Odum Lake. Locals flock to this park for fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. Conveniently located near Interstate 55, this park is a pupular outdoor recreation destination.

Although dogs are not allowed in the lake or on the beaches, there is still plenty for them to do. Leash up your pup and wander around the grassy areas or stroll along the park’s roads. Hop on the hiking trail for an easy walk in the woods. And if you have two legged children in tow, stop by the playground.

This park has pawsome picnic facilities. If you are traveling with the whole pack, reserve one of the large pavilions. Bring some burgers and fire up the grill while enjoying beautiful views of the lakes. Smaller groups will prefer to throw a blanket over one of the Individual tables and have a leisurely lunch. Just don’t forget to bring a bone for your pooch!

If your dog wants to ruff it for a night or two, pack a couple sleeping bags and spend the night at the park’s campground. Twenty-eight total sites are provided for overnight guests. These sites all come standard with a fire pit and picnic table. In addition to this, eleven of these sites have full water and electrical hookups for guests coming in an RV or camper.

Restrooms are available for two legged visitors. Bring along plenty of water. The summer days can get pretty hot, so be sure to give your pup plenty of water breaks. Do your part to keep the park smelling fresh by carrying clean up bags and picking up whatever your doggo puts down. Above all else, enjoy spending quality time in the great outdoors with your favorite four legged friend!
