Texas Canyon is more than just a spot where you can take a break on the highway between mileposts 320 and 321. Visitors have described it to be more like an attraction thanks to the piles of large boulders surrounding it—it's an unusual and beautiful sight along the freeway, and it makes for a pawsome photo opportunity! You and your pup can even climb the rocks and do a bit of exploring, which should feel good if you've been sitting in the car for too long.

There's also a designated pet exercise area, complete with a pet waste station for your convenience. While caretakers are on-site 16 hours a day to make sure the place stays clean, dog parents are expected to do their part and pick up after their pooch. Covered ramadas and picnic tables provide spots for you and Fido to dig into a packed lunch while enjoying the scenery. Other amenities include restrooms, drinking fountains, vending machines, information panels, and car and truck parking.

Be sure to keep your furry pal on a leash at all times, as the area is not fenced. Stay alert for poisonous snakes and insects, too. Texas Canyon is one of 17 ADOT rest stops on I-10, and travelers say it's the prettiest they've been to—don't forget to take lots of pictures before getting back on the road!
