If your four legged friend accompanies you on road trips, then you definitely know the value of a well placed rest stop. Furry travelers often need more breaks than their two legged companions. Next time you and your pup are driving westbound through eastern Tennessee, pull over on the Cumberland County I-40 West Rest Area. Your pal will appreciate the chance to get out of the car and stretch their four legs.
This rest area is more like a lovely park than a pit
stop. Here you will find paved walkways that meander through large patches of grass
and lots of trees. Take a stroll around the property to let your pal loosen up.
There’s a fair amount of space, so your pup will get a nice walk before
getting back in the car. Your doggo will be happy to know there is also a fully fenced off leash area. A chance to run around without a leash will do them
good, especially after a long drive. There are even a few pieces of agility
equipment for them to check out too. Hopefully, there will be other canine travelers
for them to play with.
As far as amenities for people go, this place has plenty
of picnic tables. So unpack your sandwich and enjoy a leisurely lunch with your
doggo. There is also a small building with restrooms and a separate shelter that
houses a wide array of vending machines. Street lights are placed throughout
the park, so the rest area remains safe and well lit even in the evening.
Several garbage cans are available. So you can empty your car of any trash you’ve
accumulated during your road trip, as well as any doggy debris your pup leaves
behind. Be sure to have clean-up bags on hand.
Your furry traveling companion will have a woofderful
time at this roadside park!
