Description

Central Delaware features a state park with the potential for endless fun. The park circles the 66-acre Killens Pond, for which the park is named. But more than just a pond, Killens Pond State Park has a huge variety of outdoor recreation for your whole family to enjoy, even your dog.

One of Killens Pond State Park’s highlights is the water park, open between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. More than just a pool and a slide, the park features two speed slides that start at 54 feet in the air. The pool has an entrance with zero-depth, which makes it easy to get in and out.

For smaller children, there is a tot pool and a tot lot with bubblers, water jets, small slides, and a water play area. The waterpark requires a separate fee for admission, which starts at $6 for children during the week, and up to $10 per adult on weekends and holidays. Children two years old and under may enter free of charge.

For overnight accommodations, Killens Pond State Park offers a campground open all year-round. Sites, suited for both tents and other recreational vehicles, have electric and water hookups. Alternatively, there are reservable family cabins that sleep four and come with a kitchen area, bathroom with shower, and air conditioning and heat.

For other outdoor fun, Killens Pond State Park has trails for hiking and biking, and a cross-country running course, as well as game courts, ball fields, disc golf course, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Leashed pets are welcome at Killens Pond State Park.

No pets are allowed in the water park, however, but the trails and other outdoor areas are fine. Be respectful and courteous on your visit; clean up pet waste and do not bring aggressive, unvaccinated, or bothersome pets with you. Killens Pond State Park is open year-round from 8:00 AM to sunset.

Entrance fees, collected between March and the end of November, are $4 per day for residents, and $8 per day for out-of-state visitors. In central Delaware, Killens Pond State Park might be the perfect place for your next outdoor adventure. Bring your pet and family and enjoy the day or the weekend.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
