Lake Cachuma

For a furrific time in Santa Barbara's great outdoors, head straight to the Cachuma Lake Recreation Area! Nestled between the Santa Ynez and San Rafael Mountains, this 9,000-acre site attracts visitors with its natural beauty, sunny skies, and mild temperatures. The park also offers a plethora of recreational activities, many of which you can enjoy with your furry pal!

Four-legged outdoor enthusiasts are very much welcome to explore the wilderness and sleep under the stars at the Cachuma Lake Recreation Area. Be sure to carry extra cash if your canine BFF's tagging along, as there is a fee of $3 per pet, per day. Don't leave home without a copy of Fido's current rabies vaccination certificate, either! 

Adventurous pups will likely want to hit the 4 miles of trails within the park first as soon as they arrive. Remember to grab a trail guide at the front gate or the Naturalist's Office before setting off! Always keep your pooch on a 6-foot leash and clean up after them. Make sure to bring clean-up bags and water for when you or your adventurous pup gets thirsty. For off-leash exercise, take your pup to the pawtastic dog run near the laundromat.

If your doggo enjoys boat rides, you can rent a canoe or launch your own watercraft at the park's marina. Let your pup feel the breeze in their fur as you explore Cachuma Lake, but make sure they don't come into contact with the water as the lake is a source for drinking water. If one day at the park isn't enough, pitch your tent or park your RV in the camping area, which is equipped with a general store, gas station, and hot showers. Pups who aren't used to ruffing it may stay in designated cabins for an additional fee of $20 per pet, per night.
