Description

The Little Long Pond Off-Leash Area near Acadia National Park is a designated place for dogs. The private piece of land is managed by the Rockefeller family and shared with the public. The property is not fenced-in but has plenty of trees that act as a border. Dogs that are not adequately trained to remain by their owner's side or come when called should stay on a leash to prevent them from running away.

This area is the only location designated for dogs near Acadia National Park. Dogs need to remain on a leash when visiting any other area of the park. This beautiful park has a variety of terrains such as grass, rocks, and water. There is a large pond here at the Little Long Pond Off-Leash Area that is excellent for dogs to swim and splash around on hot days.

Dog owners can access the dog park area near Seal Harbor close to the east side of Long Pond. You can park on Peabody Drive which is about one mile west of Seal Beach. Dogs of all sizes are welcome to visit the park. However, there are not separate areas for small and large dogs. However, the park is large enough to find your own space away from other dogs if needed.

Dogs need their vaccinations up-to-date when visiting this park. The license and vaccination tags need to be placed on the collar of the dog. Pet owners are responsible for their dog’s health, behavior, and well being while visiting the park. Aggressive dogs need to be removed from the area immediately for safety reasons. Owners are responsible for any damage to property, dogs or humans.

Overall, this impressive park is large, has trees, bushes, plants, a pond, rocks, and plenty of land to explore with your dog. When visiting the Little Long Pond Off-Leash Area, bring along fresh water and a bowl for your dog to prevent dehydration. Drinking out of the pond is not recommended.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
