Description

Montana is a state known for its majestic, wide-open natural spaces, featuring some of the most extreme and breathtaking landscapes in the United States. The state is also incredibly dog-friendly, although it must balance its natural love of dogs with the preservation and conservation of natural environments.

Knowing and following the rules can help ensure that you and your dog have the best experience whenever visiting any Montana State Park, including Lone Pine State Park! Perched above the scenic Flathead Valley, Lone Pine State Park encompasses 270 acres of wildflowers, wildlife, and trails—a system sprawling over 7.5 miles in total.

Your dog is welcome to visit this park while on a leash, and due to the nature of the natural habitats, ten-foot leashes are a strict requirement. The park offers barbeque and picnic sites, as well as fire pits and an archery range. There are restrooms and fresh water on site, but you may want to pack your own water just in case you wander somewhere without water access.

During the winter seasons, many people use the park to cross-country ski and snowshoe. There will be no shortage of adventure for you and your dog to share. Montana State Parks owns and manages the land, and as with most of Montana, there is a lot of natural lands to care for. In addition to following the rules outlined by Montana State Parks, you should make sure that your dog is not disrupting the environment as best as you can.

The park features many elevation changes, so make sure that you are prepared physically for the hiking and keep your dog safe by keeping away from dangerous cliff faces. Few parks in the United States offer the spectacular views and sense of grandeur that Lone Pine State Park does. Come to visit with your dog and leave in awe of the natural world.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
