Description

Surrounded by local history and beautiful, forested scenery, Lost River State Park has been entertaining guests for over 70 years. Offering many summertime amenities, this park is sure to provide guests with a reprieve from the summertime heat. Hikers will be in luck at Lost River State Park, with 13 total miles of trails available.

One notable trail leads to the Cranny Crow overlook. This area is renowned for its incredible views, sitting over 3,000 feet above the surrounding landscape. During your hike, make sure to take several breaks to check out the abundant plant and animal life that's sure to cross your vision periodically.

These trails are generally unmarked save for simple signs, so be sure to grab an up to date trail guide at the park's central offices before setting off on your expedition. Canines are free to accompany guests on these trails, as long as they remain on a leash or other restraint throughout their visit.

Guests are reminded to clean up any refuse or messes that their pets might leave behind. During the summer months, the park offers public swimming in its Lost River State Park pool. This pool hearkens back to the late 1930s when it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps along with several other public structures.

Recent renovations have returned this pool to its original glory and have become a notable attraction for history hunters throughout the region. Safety staff is posted here throughout the summer season, so you can rest easy when practicing your diving. Sorry pet owners, but canines are prohibited from all public buildings inside of the park.

Lost River State Park also caters to traditional sports, housing a series of eight tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, an archery range, and several horseshoe pits. No rental services exist for these areas, so make sure to bring any equipment you may require along for your visit.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
