The Martin Luther King Jr. Park Off-Leash Area for pooches is located on the southwest corner of the park. Pooches have to be on their leashes if going to other areas of the park. Gifted with excellent trails, this is the perfect place to go if you want to take Spike for a long walk with you to get away from the noise of the city, and commune with Mother Nature. Do keep in mind that the trails are frequented by joggers so be mindful of the shared space.
The park has a playground for children, so you can take the tiny tots too, so that they can have a great time and exercise, as well. The vast fields allow dogs to run and play to their heart’s content without disturbing other people who want to have a quiet time at the park. One of the best things about the park are tons of ripe blackberries during September so bring your container and pick blackberries with your children, family and even your dog!
There are no dog scoopers in the Martin Luther King Jr. Park Off-Leash Area so pet parents must bring some for use. It is a must for pet parents to clean up after their dogs to make the park a pleasant place for everyone, pets, and humans alike. Nobody wants to step on poo on a beautiful, sunny day. The ball fields are off limits to dogs of all sizes and ages.Â
If you live nearby and want an excellent place where you can take your four-legged best friend after work, this is the best place to go. You can unwind after a hard day’s work and even make new friends with like-minded people who adore pooches too. There was a bit of a controversy when the dog park started, but now it has become a favorite spot of locals.Â
