Maumee Bay State Park encompasses a total area of 1,336 acres of land in Jerusalem Township, Lucas County, Ohio. The park is located in north central Ohio about 14 miles from Toledo. The address to the park is 1400 State Park Road, Oregon, Ohio 43618-9532.

Maumee Bay State Park became an Ohio State Park in 1975 after the acquisition of parklands began in 1974. The topography of the land where the park sits mostly consists of a natural environment that was formed by the convergence of land and Lake Erie, one of the world’s largest freshwater lakes and one of America’s Great Lakes. The land is blessed with beautiful meadows lush marshes and wet woods that are full of all kinds of wildlife.

Besides the beauty of the natural biota at the park, you can also enjoy lots of activity at the park including golfing, camping, hiking, boating (only electric motors allowed), cross-country skiing, fishing, ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and sledding. Amenities at the park to facilitate these activities include rent-a-yurt, observation tower, observation blind, campsites with electricity, bike trails, swimming pool, lodges, cottages, camper cabins, food concession, nature center, restaurant, docks, swimming beach, hiking trails, boardwalk, 18-hole golf course, playground, showers, boat rentals, picnic areas, flush toilets, nature programs, and nature center.

If you choose to visit this park, you are also allowed to bring your dog for the fun at no additional cost. In fact, Maumee Bay State Park offers additional pet/dog facilities above what most other Ohio state parks offer including dog-friendly yurts, lodges and so on. There is a standard two pet/dog per campsite rule that generally applies at the park. Other standard Ohio State park rules that apply include, all dogs must always be on a leash no longer than six feet long. Also, you are not allowed to bring your dog to areas that are not designated as pet/dog-friendly areas. It is also highly advisable to carry poop bags with you so that you can clean up after your dog.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
