The park is some combination of grass and somewhat sand but well maintained. The grass stays in good shape for the spring and summer months. There are trees inside the fenced section, and they provide a good bit of shade for you and your canine. Benches and other seating are placed alongside the fence and underneath some of the trees.
There is a decent amount of space for your canine to run and play, but the Memorial Dog Park is not suitable for long-range games like fetch or frisbee. Just really enough room for them to run around a little bit with some of the other canines. However, the greater area of the park makes for a great place to bring the family.
There are playgrounds and sports fields available. In addition, there are picnic tables with shelters to provide cover in all weather and BBQ's placed nearby and in abundance. Your canine is allowed around this entire park except for inside the restrooms or on the other facilities like the playground.
The park itself comes in at just above ten acres while the dog area is about 150 ft x 110 ft. This is the total size of both the small dog side and the large dog side combined. It makes for a decent amount of room to run, but not enough room to go anywhere.
Overall, this park makes for a great place to spend a few hours with your canine, and it is free to use the park. The city only requests you follow it's rules and guidelines which can be found on their website. Overall this park is quite beautiful!
