Mitchell Dog Park - Tempe

If your Tempe pooch is in need of some off leash romping, head to the Mitchell Dog Park! This furbulous space inside Mitchell Park is the pawfect place for your dog to mix and mingle off leash.

Located in the southeast corner of the pupular community park, the dog area features full fencing and a double-gate for extra security. Once inside, your dog can ditch the leash and romp with all sizes. Since there's no separate area for smaller pups, be sure your teeny pal is comfortable hanging with bigger dogs. Cement lines the borders and is home to several picnic tables and benches, giving pet pawrents lots of front row seats to all the action. In the center, a soft dirt and grass area is easy on the paws. During hot days, the area can get a bit dusty, while on wet ones, it can get muddy, so you may want to throw a towel in the car for a quick wipe down after a fun day romping with the locals.

While not huge, there is ample room for games of fetch or chase. When pups gets thirsty, water fountains at human and dog levels ensure everyone can stay hydrated. In the summer, kiddie pools are filled up to give dogs a fun way to keep cool, and there are also a few shady spots to get out of the sun. And if your dog gets enough socialization, you can clip the leash back on and work out the rest of that energy with a relaxing walk through Mitchell Park. 

As with any dog park, your dog should be current on their vaccines, and wearing their license tag on their collars. Clean-up bags, trash cans and even shovels are provided to help everyone promptly pick up after their furry pals. Keep any and all food out, and if you've got a digger, be sure to fill in any holes before you leave. Mitchell Park doesn't have its own parking lot, so you'll need to park on the street adjacent to the dog park, or take a stroll through the neighborhood.
