The Northern Horizon Dog Park is the biggest dog park in Glendale, Arizona. Located in the city's Northern Horizon Park, it is an excellent space for legitimately exercising dogs off-leash. The nearest parking lot is a few minutes walk away, and dogs shouldn't be unleashed until arriving at the designated area.
This dog park in Glendale is a spacious, grass-covered field which is completely enclosed with secure chain-link fencing. Separated into two different sections, one for large and one for small breeds, it is a safe place for any size dog to have some fun chasing a ball or even another dog's tail.Â
Though if a dog displays any type of play which is classed as aggressive or anti-social to either another dog or a person, they must be removed from the dog park straight away. Owners are always held responsible for their dogs, and they mustn't leave them alone in the off-leash areas.
While the off-leash areas are perfect spaces for teaching dogs new tricks, it is not permitted to take any food inside. Dog treats are classed as food in Glendale, so leave them in the car. What cannot be left behind are a decent pocketful of poop bags.
None are supplied on-site, so don't go without any as not picking up a pup poop package can result in a fine or even worse, banishment from the dog park. It is not necessary to take the used bags home as there are on-site waste stations intended for just that purpose.Â
Though do note, the water fountains are for providing drinking water for the dogs and not for sanitizing pet owner's hands. Glendale is a reasonably dog-friendly town, but saying that, the local authorities still require dogs to have had all their vaccinations and for their owners to have obtained the correct license for their pet before letting them loose in the city's off-leash dog parks.
