Penny Memorial Dog Park

The Penny Memorial Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Lewiston, Idaho. This dog park is a continuous work in progress and is being funded by the generous donations of city residents along with help from the Lewiston Parks and Recreation Reservation Fund. 

Lewiston is a city which believes the members of its four-legged population deserve their own space to play in. The dog park is located on what was once a piece of useless wasteland in Clear Water Park and which has now been re-conditioned to serve a useful purpose as an off-leash area for exercising dogs. 

The dog park was named in memory of a well-loved fur baby belonging to one of the significant contributors which sadly passed on to live in canine heaven. At this dog park in Lewiston, the two acres of ground have been fairly divided between large and small, and there's more than enough space in each compound to keep all the pups happy. 

Pet parents who are mobility challenged should be aware that the off-leash area surfaces are uneven and difficult to get around on. The park organizers request all visitors to leave their cell phones at home and pay full attention to their pups while they're in the off-leash areas. 

It's healthy for humans to have a break from constant communication too. A dog's antics in a dog park can be amusing, and no-one wants to miss out on those precious moments. An observant pet parent is also one who spots the crucial moment when their dog defecates and with their hands-free can deal with it immediately. 

For those pups who don't follow the correct pet-iquette while in the off-leash area, instead of banishment, this dog park recommends visiting a professional trainer to help solve the problem. A few sessions and a dog will soon learn what is and what isn't the right way to play and will be able to enjoy lots of future off-leash time.
