When your dog needs to beat the boredom blues, bring them to the Roverwest Dog Park! Built on the site of a former brownfield, this off-leash park has become the favorite stomping ground of Riverwest’s canine and human residents alike!
The Roverwest Dog Park takes up an entire city block in a residential community, giving its four-legged visitors plenty of room to run to their heart’s content. Big pups and little woofers play together at this fully fenced site, as there is no separate area for small dogs. Benches are available for you to sit on while you watch your furkid, and although water bowls are provided, you'll need to bring your own water. It’s unclear if bags are supplied as well, but it’s always a good idea to always carry a few with you.
Timing your visit to the Roverwest Dog Park is recommended, especially if you have a pooch who is sensitive to the weather. There are no trees to hide under on hot, sunny days, and it can get muddy when it rains and icy in the winter. Free street parking is available along the park’s perimeter though, making it easy to visit even if you’re not from the neighborhood. Â
Before making your way to Roverwest, make sure your pup is licensed and up to date on their vaccinations. Additionally, usage of the park requires a daily or annual pass, which you can purchase on-site or online. Single-day passes are $5 and annual passes range from $15 to $35.Â
After your pup has burned off their energy, you can grab a drink or bite to eat at one of the nearby dog-friendly bars and cafes on your way home. A couple of places even allow well-behaved canine customers inside!Â
