Description
St. Nicholas Dog Park Run is located in the Harlem area of New York City, New York. This dedicated dog facility has a large fully fenced enclosure suitable for off-leash dog play. Situated slightly above this larger dog run is a fenced area reserved for use by small dogs only. Both runs are lined with a combination of dirt and wood chips to help maximize traction and prevent injuries. Though both dog play spaces are designated off-leash zones, it is important to note that under New York state legislation, dogs are to remain on a lead of no greater than 6 ft when not in specifically marked sectors permitting off-leash play. Owners are mandated to carry a lead with them at all times in case of an emergency.

Access to this doggy play haven is free of charge. Visitors to the park state that there are no bathroom facilities on the premises for public use. Benches are provided in shaded areas of the park to encourage owners to recline and relax while observing their dogs at play. It is unknown if water is provided to help keep Fido well-hydrated. Owners should carry a bottle of water and a suitable drinking vessel with them.

Though poop bag dispensers are installed throughout the property, visitors to the park note that they are often empty. Since New York state legislation mandates the prompt removal and correct disposal of all canine waste materials, owners are required to carry bags with them for this purpose. Those who frequent this dog run love its wide open spaces for Fido and his friends to enjoy. They also remark that it is build on a hill, providing different terrain for Fido to explore. There are also rocks within the play enclosures for Fido to climb to gain a different vantage point from which to view his surroundings.

New York state law requires that all dogs making use of public spaces be up to date on all vaccinations and city licensing. Owners are required to carry proof of immunizations and licensing with them at all times. Failure to provide said paperwork upon request results in a fine. Could Fido benefit from burning off a little steam? Make a visit to St. Nicholas Dog Run!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
