St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

St. Croix National Scenic Riverway encompasses a total area of 92,738 acres of land that is located in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The protected land not only protects the both the Namekagon River, which is in Wisconsin and the St. Croix River which is at the border between Wisconsin and Minnesota, but also the land that is adjacent these two rivers. 

There's different ways to access the protected riverway including using the WI 63 which parallels the upper stretches or the MN 95 and WI 35 which parallels the lower stretches. This National Scenic Riverway is protected by the National Park Service whose offices are located in the city of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, where there is also a visitor center. 

Once visitors get to the visitor center, they will find that there are several activities that they can engage in when at the park. For example, visitors could participate in recreational activities like boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking, camping, canoeing, cross-country skiing, hunting, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing. 

These activities are facilitated by several amenities in the park that include canoe access campsites (developed and primitive), campgrounds, boat ramp, picnic area, boat rental, restrooms, visitor centers, museum/exhibit, and self-guided tours. 

Dog owners can definitely bring their pooches into St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, but they will have to ensure that their pets are well-behaved and that their dogs are always under their immediate control. The main reason for this is to ensure that the dog does not cause any harm to the environment around them or to the park's resources. 

Additionally, the rules in the park are designed to also protect other visitors and dogs to the park. As such, dogs should always be leashed and when not leashed the dog should be secured in an enclosure. Furthermore, dog owners should make sure that their dog does not wander into restricted areas of the park.
