Morgantown’s first dog park, Stanley’s Spot, is a cooperative undertaking between the Morgantown Dog Owner’s Group and BOPARC. The park’s fenced area boasts of an area especially for the protection and entertainment of smaller pooches. Having a section dedicated for timid and tiny canines helps prevent them from getting hurt, whether accidentally or intentionally.Â
Located along the Decker’s Creek Trail, the park welcomes pooches over the age of six months that are licensed and vaccinated. If you wish to drive to the park, you will be happy to know that you can easily park in either the Walnut Street parking garage or Hazel McQuain Park’s lot near the amphitheater. From the amphitheater, you can walk down Elk Street from the Walnut Street parking garage.Â
There is a lot of space at Stanley's Spot Dog Park to throw balls, play frisbee or just to run around and roll on the ground. Your pup will get ample exercise and get an excellent opportunity to mingle with other pooches and make new furry friends. Mainly covered with grass, the park has a few benches to sit on for pet parents when they are supervising their furbabies.Â
There are dog scooper bags available so that all pet parents can clean up after their dogs. There is a trail that leads down the creek where dogs can play in the water and even swim to their heart’s delight. The creek area is not fenced, so pet parents have to ensure that their dogs do not end up running away.Â
Prevent dehydration by bringing a jug of water for you and your pooch as there is no free water in the place. You would not want Spike to get very thirsty on his day out. The people and their dogs that frequent Stanley's Spot Dog Park in Morgantown are amicable.
