Does your hound love history? Then a visit to Tanyard Creek Park is a must. This woofderful green space has a past that will impress your pupster. The Civil War Battle of Peachtree Creek was fought in and around what is now the park’s boundaries. For more infurmation, be sure to read the historic markers that are scattered throughout the park.
It’s no wonder this park is a favorite destination for
those living in the surrounding community. It contains a stretch of the Northside
Beltline Trail, a pawsome spot to take a stroll with your beloved pooch. Your
furry BFF will love trotting along this wooded trail as it runs parallel to a
babbling brook. It is a multi-use pathway, so let your pup know they will see
cyclists, skaters, joggers, and other dog walkers. Help them yield to traffic
as necessary. The pathway neither begins nor ends in the park, rather it passes
right through, so if your pooch needs some extra mileage, continue on the trail
as it exits the park.
Besides a puptacular trail, Tanyard Creek Park has a
pawsome playground for two legged children. There is also a large lawn area. If
your pup wants a less structured walk, veer off the Beltline and let them mosey
around the grass. Their nose will get right to work as they check out all the
new smells. If you have some extra time, find a spot under a tree and chillax
with your favorite.
Do your part to keep this lovely space free of doggy
debris. Bring a clean up bag and pick up whatever your pooch puts down. It’s
impawtant to note that there are no restrooms or drinking water at the park, so
fill up your water bottles before you leave home.
Make no mistake, a visit to this park will make your pup’s
tail wag!
