Columbus is a thriving muttropolis that is bursting with personality. As Ohio’s capital, it makes the rest of the state proud with its lively nightlife, eclectic cultural scene, and top notch shopping. With places like the American Museum of Natural History Dinosaur Gallery and Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, it’s easy to see why the locals love this place. You know who else goes mutts over this city? The four legged residents. With what seems like endless amounts of parks and places to take canine companions, Columbus is definitely a dog friendly city. To help you decide where to let your pupper run free, check out this list of the top dog parks in Columbus.

#5 Scioto Audubon Dog Park

Located inside the lovely Scioto Audubon Park, this off leash area is the pawfect place to let your pooch run around to their heart’s content. Not only will they meet new furriends, they can also check out the agility equipment. Small dogs have their own area to explore, and both areas have shade trees, drinking water, and benches. After your pup is finished in the dog park, clip their leash on and check out the main park.

#4 Wheeler Memorial Dog Park

Next time your pup needs to let off some steam, take them over to this off leash area and let them romp around. Conveniently located in downtown Columbus, this park is divided into a large dog area and small pup section. This park stays open until 11:00 p.m. and is well lit, so if your furry friend is a night owl, head over after dinner for some night time fun!

#3 Godown Road Dog Park

If your dog is a runner, then this is the place for them. This doggy haven sprawls across five acres of land. With hills to scamper up and plenty of trees to sniff (and mark), this place is a pup’s dream come true. A one acre lot is available for small pups. The park can be muddy, so you may need to stop off at the cleaning station before heading home.

#2 Big Walnut Dog Park

It’s no wonder the local doggos love this dog park. It has not one, not two, but three fenced areas for pupsters to play in. One is for petite pooches, another is for large breeds, and the third is for dogs of all shapes and sizes. When your pal gets hot from running around, they can cool of in the doggy pond. This pawsome park also has clean up bags, seats for puppy dog parents, and shade.

#1 Rocky Fork Metro Dog Park

As far as dog parks go, this place has it all! When they visit this dog park, your pooch will have access to wide open play areas, an off leash trail, and even their own doggy splash pad. So unclip that leash and let you fur baby run wild! Large and small dogs can play separately here. Before heading home, explore the on leash trails in the main area of Rocky Fork Metro Park.Â
