Veraddo Dog Park

You have got to love the State of Arizona. The state has some of the best town and city names in the country, such as Santa Claus, Carefree, and the impossibly strange name of Why. Why would they name it Why? Oh well, it's better than Nothing, Arizona, which also exists.

Compared to towns with such improbable names as Show Low and Mexican Water, a town named Buckeye shouldn't even cause a second thought. And really, the name isn't so unusual as to detract from the town. Buckeye is a beautiful community in suburban Phoenix, one of the fastest growing towns in the United States. 

In Buckeye, you'll find the neighborhood of Verrado, a planned community with broad streets, eclectic shops, and a big, new dog park that is kept absolutely immaculate by the city and by a small squadron of volunteers. The Verrado Dog Park, in Buckeye, Arizona, is a desert oasis for the canine. It's a nicely sized dog park covered in grass. 

There is a concrete walk surrounding the park, and between the walk and the fence is a small area filled with lava rocks, local trees. There is a water fountain for dogs and people, and there are several water buckets that are kept full bun volunteers. There are also poop bags and trash cans. 

There's a smaller section for dogs under twenty-five pounds. It's about half the size of the main section, but otherwise, it looks exactly like the main section. The body of the park is covered in grass that is well-suited to the very hot climate. There are plastic benches and chairs for people, but unfortunately, the park doesn't have a lot of shade. 

However, if you're looking for a little relief from the heat, there are businesses nearby that are dog-friendly. You can easily have a nice delicious iced coffee at the Verrado Coffee Company. They'll welcome you and your leashed dog with a nice bowl of cold water.
