Weigand Dog Park is a public dog park located at the Dry Canyon Park in Redmond, Oregon. In addition to the dog park, the four-mile Dry Canyon Park features a canyon, a desert trail, tennis courts, softball fields, disc golf course, and a playground. It is also home to several pavilions, picnic areas, benches, and drinking fountains, all of which help guarantee that the park’s patrons remain hydrated and comfortable during their visit.Â
Plus, there are a variety of walking and jogging trails that run throughout the park that dogs are welcome on as long as they are leashed. The popular Weigand Dog Park was opened in 2010 and can be found on the northern part of the Dry Canyon Park, just a short walk from the parking lot. It is three acres in size and has a well-thought-out, open space layout that is made up of two separate sections for dogs to roam in without a leash.
There is a large dog run and a small dog area, both of which provide more than enough room for dogs to roam in with their canine friends. The park’s surface consists of grass and some dirt, so packing a towel for your pooches paws may be a good idea, especially if you are visiting on a rainy day. It is a great location for canine socialization and playtime, but dogs who prefer to explore in wooded areas won’t enjoy it as much as there aren’t many trees growing inside the off-leash areas.Â
The dog park is equipped with two water fountains that help keep the four-legged patrons and their owners hydrated during their visit. There are numerous benches located throughout the dog park, as well as some shade structures that help make sure dog owners remain comfortable while they watch their dogs play and socialize. Be sure to supervise your canine companions, especially those that are chewers as dog toys can be found scattered around the park.Â
