West Shore is said to be the most quiet park on the lake, making it pawfectly suited for a peaceful weekend getaway with your furry best friend. The campground, located in the midst of a lush pine, fir, and larch forest, offers 31 campsites, 7 of which are tent only sites. It is equipped with drinking water, fire rings, vault toilets, and bear-resistant dumpsters. Yes, bears live in the area, so don't leave food out or litter around your site to avoid unwanted guests! It is unknown if canines are permitted on rental boats, but don't miss the chance to explore Flathead Lake with your pooch if they are or if you have your own boat. Take in the puptastic views and feel the breeze in your hair and fur as you and Fido go for a leisurely boat ride around the water. Another activity that you can enjoy together is hiking; West Shore has about 2.5 miles of trails ranging from easy to moderate. Be prepared to share the trails with bikers, as most of the routes are open to bicycles as well.
Wherever you go in the park, make sure Fido always stays on a leash no longer than 8 feet. Carry doggie waste bags on your person at all times, too, to help keep West Shore clean and beautiful. Note that while Montana residents get to enter the park for free, there is a daily entrance fee of $4 per walk-in visitor and $6 per vehicle for out-of-state guests.
