The West Shore State Park, which is also referred to as Flathead Lake State Park, caters to summertime sports above all others. While hiking is offered, the main attractions here are the miles of beaches and ample maritime amenities.
Flathead Lake offers several different opportunities to get out on the water with either your vessel or by renting a kayak or canoe from the park's main concessions area. This is run by the "Sea Me Paddle" organization, who also hosts kayak tours during the warmer months.

If you're getting out on the waves with your boat, make sure you're displaying recent registration from the state of Montana. Feel free to keep your dog with you as you venture out over the water, as long as you keep them on a restraint.
Overnight and weekend stays are offered in West Shore State Park via 54 sites in total. All of these sites come standard with a fire pit, picnic table, sand tent base, and plumbing hookups for fresh water access.
If you're coming in an RV or pop up camper, you're welcome to do so as long as you remember that most standard RV amenities are absent from this particular batch of sites. Public restrooms are in the center of the campgrounds, while public showers are located near the shoreline.
Dog lovers can rest assured that their canine will be able to sleep with them throughout the night. West Shore offers public swimming on its almost three miles of sandy beaches. A large public area is located here, where guests can swim on cordoned off areas of the lake.
There are almost always lifeguards on duty, so visitors will always have a helping hand if the water gets too daunting. Feel free to enjoy the beaches with your dog, but keep them out of the lake waters at all times.
