West State Street Dog Park

Athens Ohio has not one, but two dog parks within the city limits. The West State Street Dog Park, named after the adjacent street of the same name, is the smaller of the two parks. Though it is the lesser of the two parks, the other park has several drawbacks when compared to this one such as not having much shade.

However, this park features a ton of amenities you are not likely to find at most dog parks. They have water fountains at human and dog height, so you don’t even need to bring your dog bowl. Doggie bags and regularly emptied trash cans are also provided for your convenience.

The abundant vegetation at this park and the high canopy in the trees mean you will remain well shaded throughout most times of the day. Seating is ample and spread throughout the park. This park also has two large structures with picnic tables under them. This provides a great deal of shelter and shade.

This park is rather large and has plenty of grass available for your canine, even featuring some agility equipment. This park is above the expectations of local dog parks and is treasured by the community.

Although the dog park is rather large, it can be difficult to find as there is no signage to indicate it’s location. The city also requires your pets be appropriately vaccinated and registered with the city. You're responsible for your canine, and the town takes no liability for any harm that could come to your animal from others.
