The Wiggley Field is a public dog park located at the Old Reid Park in Springfield, Ohio. In addition to the dog park, the 60-acre county park features playgrounds, volleyball courts, tennis courts, fishing, and picnic areas. It also offers plenty of parking, numerous scenic views and nature paths, including the Buck Creek Scenic Trail.Â
Wiggley Field Dog Park was opened in June 2005 and has since become a highly-rated location for the dog owners in the community. It is surrounded by lush greenery, beautiful landscapes and is the perfect place for a relaxing afternoon with your canine best friend. The Wiggley Field Dog Park is divided into two separate off-leash areas. It is also equipped with drinking fountains so owners won’t have to worry about their canines staying hydrated.Â
There is a small dog section here at Wiggley Field, as well as a dog run for the bigger breeds. Both areas provide enough space for dogs to stretch their legs and explore leash-free. The park’s surface consists of lush grass so playtime can get muddy on rainy days. The dog park has plenty of shade thanks to the numerous mature trees scattered throughout the park.Â
There are several benches and picnic areas inside the off-leash areas, at the Wiggley Field Dog Park, as well as just outside the fence. The off-leash areas are very well maintained and clean, so please make sure to tidy up after your pooch too! If you forgot dog waste bags, do not worry as the park has a free dog poop bag dispenser and conveniently placed trash cans.Â
Despite the above amenities, there aren’t many dogs that can be found at the park during the week, so if you want your pooch to have someone to play with - visit during the weekend. Lastly, there are beautiful ponds, streams, and lagoons in the Old Reid Park which add to the serene atmosphere. Dogs are welcome on trails and around the water areas as long as they are leashed.
