Williamsbridge Oval Dog Park is a public dog run located in the Williamsbridge Oval Park in the Bronx, New York. This beautiful 19.75-acre park is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and in addition to the dog park it is home to multiple playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and a sports field with a large running track. The dog park was completed in 2013 and has since become a very popular place for dog owners in the community.
The dog park consists of two securely-fenced and gated off-leash areas. One is meant for smaller dog breeds while the other accommodates the larger hounds. Both areas are filled with tall, mature trees and lush greenery that provide plenty of shade and add to the peaceful atmosphere. There are lots of benches throughout the park so seating is never a problem, allowing owners to remain responsible and keep their four-legged friends in sight while they run, play, and socialize with other dogs in the dog park. Both enclosures offer enough space for canines to properly stretch their legs and get some off-leash exercise in a safe environment.
There is a drinking fountain by the entrance for owners and their dogs to enjoy during the summer, however, since it is seasonal, owners have to make sure to bring their own water during the winter months. There are also no dog waste bag dispensers. Therefore, owners need to remember to bring their own plastic bags so that they can tidy up after their pooches. Though there are no restrooms in the dog park or directly by it, there are some restrooms in the recreation center that is just a few minutes of walk.
Overall, the Williamsbridge Oval Dog Park is a great place to spend a day with your four-legged buddy as well as the entire family. The park offers a variety of activities and is located in a relaxing environment that is very well-maintained.
