The ground is covered with mostly green grass and there are some trees along the edges, but the field is wide open and ready for your dog to enjoy the sun's rays. The dog park has a small incline on the side, so your pup can get some energy out by running up and down the hill. The dog park is just part of the Windmill Hill Park, which has children's playgrounds, benches, garbage pails, and a basketball court.
You can bring in beverages for yourself, as long as they're non-alcoholic. You cannot bring food into the park. Making sure your dog can respond to your command is key at Windmill Hill Park. The park borders along Union Street and Union Street as well as residential homes, so it's important to keep him under your control. Because of the park's location, discourage any excessive barking. You must also keep your dog within eyesight and clean up after him. Bring your own bags to be a considerate park go-er.
Each visitor can only bring three dogs at once and all must be on leash before entering the designated park area. If your dog gets into an altercation with another dog resulting in a bite or bites a human, it must be reported to Alexandria Animal Control and all parties must wait for them to arrive, unless medical attention is needed right away.
