Tucked away in Queens, NYC, at the heart of Sunnyside Gardens is Windmuller Dog Run. Located in Doughboy Park, also called Doughboy Plaza, this green space is adjacent to Windmuller Park. Surrounded by low rise apartments, condo buildings, and homes, locals consider the nearby neighborhood to be a quiet respite away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.
Within Doughboy Plaza is a tiny fenced-in area named Windmuller Dog Run, where pups can blow off some steam leash-free. On the smaller size, the park is best for just a few pups at a time, or a pack of tinies! It's wise to bring along some toys to keep your canine occupied at this no-frills dog run. The ground at this park is paved, and the park lacks some basic amenities like water faucets, so be sure to bring along some water for your woofer. Have a few clean-up bags on hand too, and always stoop and scoop. You'll find several trash cans throughout Doughboy Plaza for easy disposal. The park also contains a couple of benches where you can relax while your pup plays.Â
When you're not at the dog run, leash up your pup and explore Doughboy Plaza, which is well-equipped with a pool area, squash courts, benches, game tables, and even a small sledding hill for winter.Â
Before heading to the dog park, be sure your dog has rabies vaccinations and keep proof of vaccines and your dog license on hand. Pooches should be on a leash no more than six feet long at all times outside the dog run, and when entering exiting the off-leash area. Note that pups are not allowed in the playground, sports, or other areas with activities.Â
When your dog needs a little off-leash socialization, head to Doughboy Plaza and enjoy an afternoon at the Windmuller Dog Park.
