The Agoura Equestrian Center Connector Trail is a relatively new trail that links Old Agoura Park with Chesebro Canyon. This is great for anyone looking to park at the park and hike the many trails in the canyon, but it's also a fun urban hike in its own right. You don't have to be a dedicated hiker to make the most of this addition to the local trails landscape. At the end of your hike, you'll have the option to continue north into Chesebro Canyon. To opt out, just retrace your steps to your parked car!Â
Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they have to be on leash. This is for the preservation of the area, but it's also a matter of safety. You're never far from the city streets on this trail, and a loose dog could be in danger. There's also the matter of sharing the path. This trail is popular for jogging, cycling, and horseback riding! If your dog has never seen equestrians before, you don't know how they'll react. Whether they want to play with this strange animal or want to protect you from it, keeping a firm grip on the leash will ensure that everyone enjoys their day out!Â
At just over a mile long, you might think you won't have time to see much on your journey. That's not true! Read up on local flora and spot any of the many species that make this track such a beautiful spot. California Black Walnut is one of the most distinctive trees. Depending on the time of year, you'll encounter loads of walnuts or loads of the puffy green fruit that walnuts grow out of. These walnuts are edible, though more bitter than most commercially produced walnuts. You can also spot California poppies and other native wildflowers when the season is right.
