Description

Simply put, the Black River Hike and Bike Trail is the type of walk that doggy daydreams are made of! The main access point to this pupperific promenade can be found in River Road Park, which sits on the edge of the Black River, just below charming Clearwater Lake. This is an immensely picturesque place, so take the time to "paws" and admire the river as it meanders around beautiful bluffs, encounters the darling dam, and runs alongside the flourishing flowers that line its banks. There are benches dotted along the path, so you and your precious pooch can appreciate the stunning landscape while you catch your breath!

Not only is this trail a slice of heaven for hounds and humans, but the surrounding area is also home to an abundance of other awesome animals. Bald eagles are known to nest here, and visitors often spot some majestic deer and foxes. Keep an eye out for the mystical coves and peaceful bays along this ravishing river -- you never know what you might see! Just remember to keep your barking bestie on their lead and under your control at all times to avoid disturbing any of the treasured flora and fauna.

This looped lap "offurs" visitors an easy, steady stroll, and its moderate length makes it the pawfect choice for both the most energetic and chilled-out pups. There aren’t many restrooms to be found on this route, so before you head off, do make use of all the amenities provided at River Road Park. Stock up on drinking water and poop bags for the journey and you’ve got a limitless adventure ahead! This is a very popular hiking trail for wagging walkers, and weekends are a favorite frolic time for many. If you’re looking to extend your excursion, then you can join the Blue Heron or Bottomland interpretive trails that connect to the Black River Hike and Bike Trail. You’d be barking mad to miss this one!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
