Hiking adventure anyone? There is a pawtastic hike just waiting for you in Avila Beach, California. The Bob Jones City to the Sea Trail is welcoming to people and pups!
Pick up the trailhead at the Ontario Road Staging Area on Avila Beach Drive off Hwy 101, and begin your adventure which will take you all the way to Avila Beach. These two communities are joined by this path which offers spectacular views as it meanders alongside of the San Luis Obispo Creek.
Referred to by locals as the Bob Jones Pathway, this out-and-back trail offers 3 miles of nearly level ground which will lead you on an excursion suitable for all pup abilities. It is the old Pacific Coast Railroad line which was converted into a trail to preserve the land and creek and allow residents and visitors a pup-friendly place to relax and rejuvenate while hiking. Spectacular landscapes are yours while hiking this trail including grassy landscapes and lush gardens.
Plans are in the works to continue the trail’s expansion so there will always be more hiking adventures to look forward to! This multi-use trail offers hikers, bicyclists and joggers a place to take their pup and enjoy some together time in the great outdoors! The footing is either dirt or crushed rock, and some areas are paved.Â
Restrooms are located at either end of the trail. There is also a market and delicatessen along the way, so you can refill those water bottles or pick up something light to eat. If you would like to rent a bike, a shop at the trail’s end on Avila Beach is available too. Pups are required to be kept on leash throughout. Please clean up after them as well to keep this trail puptastic!
