The path begins at the end of Brightwater Drive, and leads into the wetlands. Keep your eyes peeled as you walk. A great variety of native and migratory birds call this area home! Due to the mild winters, you can expect some sort of animal life whenever you visit. The trail also has seasonal wildflowers.
The walk itself is easy. The inclines are mild, and the path is wide and clear to follow. It's hard packed earth, easy on paws and boots alike. Despite the length of this out and back trail, you can easily tackle it in a morning or afternoon and have time left over in your day. Do expect to share the road as cyclists, other dog walkers, and joggers are a common sight along the Brightwater Trail. This isn't a trail for extremely shy dogs!
Brightwater Trail stays close to the residential neighborhoods, so you'll never get entirely away from the sound of human habitation. It sends gentle back and forth, following the curve of Brightwater Drive all the way back to its intersection at Warner Avenue. You can choose to exit the trail at this point and take surface streets home, but it's almost as long--so take the trail back, and enjoy the gorgeous scenes on the way back!Â
Brightwater Trail is a great hike that makes a perfect hour plus adventure with your best friend at your side!Â
