Is your pup telling you its time to get outdoors? Then head to the Charmlee Wilderness Park in Malibu, California! There are plenty of trails to choose from, depending on your fur-ever friend’s mood that day! Anywhere from easy to moderate ability, there is a trail for you!
The trailhead begins at the entrance and parking lot of Charmlee Wilderness Park. Here you will find restrooms, a nature center, drinking fountains and plenty of picnic tables. After you fill up your water bottles, you will now have to decide what your adventure will be for the day!
Take the Botany Trail loop heading south and through beautiful native brush, or the Meadow Trail which you can pick up just under a mile from the trailhead. This is a former fire road and will take you across the park and through open grassland areas. Other trails interconnect with each other for over 9 miles of hiking adventure you can have with your pawtastic pup on this 592-acre park.Â
Most of these individual trails will lead you to spectacular overlooks of the ocean. Sit and enjoy the breezes and relax with Fido. To make your way back to your car, you can take the same path or choose a different one. The trails are all marked and will get you back where you started from.
Be sure to pack plenty of water for you to share. It will be easy to make your own adventure by combining trails that are all between 2 and 4 miles long. Most are suitable for any fitness-level pup. Just take the moderate-rated trails a bit slower and the natural footing will make it easy on them.
