Ed R. Levin Park Trails

The Ed R. Levin Park trails start and end at the Ed R. Levin County Park, and there's several different paths you can share with your four-legged furry family members. In fact, your pooch is welcome along all of the trails north of Calaveras Road or Bald Peaks Trail. Just be sure to keep your fur baby on a leash no longer than six feet in length at all times. 

The trails branch off to different trails along the way, each with their own interesting section of the park to enjoy. In fact, you can hike a short and easy path like Elm Trail, or you can keep hiking onto trails that will take you into other parks such as the Mission Peak Regional Preserve. Some of the properties are private and will be marked as such so make sure you stay off those areas. Some of the more interesting trails include the following. 

In the northern section, the Monument Peak Trail will take you all the way up Monument Peak, which is an elevation of almost 2,600 feet. From there, you can look out over the gorgeous Mission Peak Regional Preserve. Just off of that trail further south is the Agua Caliente Trail, which will lead you to the Minnis Ranch Training Center. This is private property used by the county parks, but the view of the hills and mountains from here are breathtaking. 

The Calera Creek Trail follows the Calera Creek and will also take you by the landing zone for hang gliders where you can watch them land on just about any day with good weather. The Sandy Wool Trail and the Calaveras Ridge Trail both pass by Sandy Wool Lake, which is a perfect spot to stop with your pooch for a picnic, use the restrooms, or fill up your water bottles. Be sure you keep your furry friend on a leash.

The best part of the trail system is what awaits you at the trailhead of Tularcitos Trail, which is an off-leash park for your furry friend to enjoy. The Ed Levin Dog Park is a full two acres of fenced-in fun with a special section for small or timid dogs, picnic areas, clean up bags, and plenty of seating in the shade. In fact, this is the spot where most dog owners start and end their trail journey since it has plenty of available parking, as well as restrooms and picnic tables. Your pup is going to love this outdoor adventure!
