Description

Tahoe National Forest is one of the most beautiful spots in the United States and hiking there with your fur-ever friend could not be more perfect. There are a number of opportunities for pawtastic hikes at Faucherie Lake located within the forest.

Getting to the trailhead is simple – just head to the Faucherie Lake Campground and you will pick up the trailheads there. The road is considered rough and is a dirt and gravel path, so take precautions if you are in a smaller vehicle. The best time of the year to access this road is between the months of May through October. Otherwise, the road needs to be used by 4-wheel drive vehicles only as itbis often snow and ice covered.

The Faucherie Lake Waterfalls trail is your destination today! This 1.1-mile out-and-back trail is pup-friendly and is waiting for you both! The trail is made of natural footing and is rated as easy to moderate. It has a slight incline throughout, but can be managed easily if you and Fido take a few breaks. This hike takes you through wooded areas until you reach the waterfall. You will then be surrounded by granite mountain cliffs which makes for one of the more scenic area lakes and falls. A selfie with your pup-tastic friend is a must!

Within the campground area, other trail choices are abundant. You will find many which crisscross each other. You will not run out of adventurous paths here and each will take you on an incredible journey throughout scenic areas near the lake. Other amenities you can enjoy at Faucherie Lake are boating, canoeing and swimming. Of course, an overnighter is an option too!

Restrooms, water fountains and trash receptacles can be found at the trailhead.  Please pack out what you pack in to keep this forest pristine. Everyone will appreciate the extra effort. Plan a trip to Faucherie Lake today with your pup.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
